Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) is an invasive procedure that is undertaken by a suitably qualified physician, with assistance from a nurse and a sonographer. This SIMTICS module teaches you how to prepare for and assist with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). It also covers how to perform stress echocardiography, where the heart is imaged under simulated exercise conditions. The interactive simulator provides three scenarios that test your ability to assist with TEE and to perform stress echocardiography. Online simulations offer a safe practice environment and also give you the opportunity to try out procedures that you might not otherwise experience. This module is ideal if you are studying for the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) registry exams.

    You’ll learn

about transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), including the indications and protocols for TEE
the standard views obtained during a TEE examination
how to work with the physician during a TEE examination to obtain optimal images and carry out all necessary measurements
the scanning protocol for stress echocardiography
how to evaluate normal and abnormal stress echocardiography images
to better visualize and understand the anatomy and physiology of the heart, with our 3D model and illustrations
and more (see “Content Details” for more specific information).
