Infection Prevention
Workers in many industries are regularly exposed to infectious agents. In health care, workers should practice universal precautions to prevent the spread of disease to themselves and others. Workers in other industries, though, can also inadvertently spread disease to customers and patrons. This course discusses infection control techniques that help prevent others from being infected by diseases and illnesses.
Safe Lifting Practices
Every year, many workers suffer back injuries caused when they improperly lift and carry heavy loads. This can affect most every worker in any industry, from an officer worker moving a box of copy paper to a carpenter constructing a building. This course discusses several tactics to help workers properly lift and carry heavy loads.
Hazardous Materials
In these modern times, hazardous chemicals and materials are everywhere. Almost every business and household regularly uses products that are potentially harmful to people if they are not used in accordance to manufacturer instructions. Employers have a responsibility to ensure that workers are aware of hazardous materials they will use or may come into contact with. This course is designed to give a general overview of hazardous material safety for typical, non-industrial workplaces and in the home.
Effective Professional Communications
Communication is a process of transferring information from one person to another. Communications is the cement that holds workplaces together and ensures that organizations are productive, profitable, and successful. People tend to think of communications as only the words they say or write, but it is so much more than that. Communications includes the environment it is used in, how words are said, non-verbal and cultural aspects, and how the communicator’s personality affects their style. To be an effective professional, workers should understand the various elements that make up communication.
